    About

The formal and stately American Beech holds a special place in many hearts. The wide-spreading canopy provides great shade in the Summer and beautiful golden bronze coloring in the Fall. It also displays an attractive smooth, silvery gray-colored bark. This magnificent tree requires some space as it can grow pretty large and is highly versatile - often used in parks, golf courses, acreages and in the forestry industry. The American Beech is not a tree you plant for fast growth and quick shade - this slow grower is planted for future generations to enjoy. And what a lovely legacy for you to leave!

    Wildlife

The four tiny beechnuts in each spiny bur are prized by a wide range of birds, chipmunks, squirrels and some discerning humans.

    Quirky Facts

There was a Beech tree on the old stage road between Blountsville and Jonesboro, Tennessee that had an inscription carved into the trunk that read "D. Boone Cilled A Bar On Tree In Year 1760." The tree fell in 1916 and had a girth of 28-1/2 feet. The Forest Service estimated the tree's age to be 365 years, fully two centuries old before Daniel Boone could of inscribed it.

Unlike Evergreens, which we ship year-round, Seasonal trees are shipped in early to mid-Spring and again in the Fall and are sent according to your local climate and this year's weather. This is done to be sure your tree is planted at the optimal time. Also, to be sure that your seedling arrives in a strong and healthy condition, we need to ship Seasonals when they are dormant in the Spring and Fall. Send us an email to info@thelivingurn.com or call us at (800) 495-7022 with questions or for more information regarding the delivery date of your tree.
