This species is a giver and is known for how useful (or helpful) it is! It’s our nation’s most important commercial nut producer with its prized sweet and nutritious nuts. This wonderful, symmetrical tree also provides great shade and its hard and beautiful wood is prized for furniture, flooring, and many other uses.  Besides all of these uses, it offers an amazing longevity of 300 years or more! Texans love this tree so much they declared it their state tree!
